Installing WordPress

I would first like to say, never use the repository version of WordPress from Ubuntu.  If you’re running any Linux Distrobution, just go to the site and download it, then follow their guide to installing WordPress.  It’s really simple.

  1. Download
  2. Unzip
  3. Upload to your website in a folder
  4. Create a database for the posts
  5. Edit the config file.
  6. Run the installation script.
Before I did this, I used the distribution in the repository and it installed, but the version was old, and it wouldn’t update to a new version.  Therefore all new themes I tried to install failed miserably, Including the current theme, which is what pushed me to installing it the right way.
